Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A Matric certificate.
- 2 to 4 years of practical experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
- A relevant culinary qualification is considered an advantage.
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods and lift heavy equipment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and night shifts.
Key Job Duties
The daily responsibilities for this role are diverse and require a strong focus on quality and safety.
You will prepare and cook a wide range of items, including meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and bakery products. You will follow standardized recipe cards and prepare specific meals for customers with special dietary requirements. You will be responsible for cleaning kitchen utensils and equipment, ensuring the kitchen meets maximum standards of sanitation and safety. You will assist in managing food orders to ensure all components of a meal are served at the same time. You will keep track of food production, check in new supplies, and notify supervisors when stock is running low.
