South Africa’s premier hip-hop festival, Back to the City, returns for its 19th annual edition at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Celebrating hip-hop culture with the theme “Power in Numbers,” the festival features an electrifying line-up of over 100 artists, 20 DJs, and 40 graffiti legends.
Attendees can look forward to performances by American rapper Lupe Fiasco, alongside some of Mzansi’s biggest stars, including Cassper Nyovest, A Reece, Big Zulu, Emtee, and many others. Beyond the music, the festival offers a full cultural immersion with MC and DJ battles, a skate park, basketball games, and more. With 120 clothing stalls and 20 food vendors, the event promises a day of art, fashion, food, and high-energy entertainment.
